Modern Quilt Guild
Modern Quilt Guild
Founded in 2009, the Modern Quilt Guild has played a central role in shaping a new aesthetic direction within contemporary quiltmaking. Characterized by bold geometry, expansive negative space, improvisational piecing, and a design vocabulary informed by modernist art and architecture, the movement reflects the ways quiltmakers have engaged with contemporary visual culture while remaining grounded in textile tradition. Through its international membership and the annual exhibition QuiltCon, the guild has helped bring modern quilts to a wide public audience while establishing a major platform for contemporary quilt practice. Bringing together works by members of this network, the exhibition considers how modern quilting has expanded the visual language and cultural understanding of quilts in the twenty-first century.
